2/4/13 CLICK HERE to read KRSL news article from Feb. 1 2013
I have lived here since 1976 and was reading about proposals for building a new facility for our schools.
You know the idea is great - however, every year I read in David Couch's commentary about how each year the enrollment is more down from the previous year. This is automatic - now -
If we could have more business move here and possibly build apartments for elderly people who may want to move out of their homes, and it could free up housing for people wanting to move here for their job and buy a home.
If we get the water situation stable, I am hoping we can bring more business here and therefore increase population with families that would enroll in our schools. When the elderly population die here in Russell and we do have a large segment, what is left - we need job opportunities. Am glad about the water purchasing - we are moving in the right direction.
Thinking about building new facilities at this era of time, therefore, is a big NO NO. Our taxes are extremely high here - how would it be funded - anyway, get the water situation solved, then try to get more business here with young families to fill up the school house, and then maybe new facility. Of course, fix the existing facilities if they are not up to standard. It makes absolutely no sense to build a new facility here when you don't have the amount of children needed to support this.
Anyway, this has been a pet peeve of mine - high taxes - we need to stay within our budget - unlike the Federal government. We should only spend what we have and not raise taxes. Many people are very unhappy about our tax rates - if we had more people in homes and paying taxes, the revenue will increase. There also is a lot of welfare in Russell which does not help with increasing our revenue - another problem.
Thank you for your time - Barbara Anschutz

Thank you for being a sponser of the haunted hotel. The kids really enjoyed it and the chili and hot dogs were a wonderful idea. Having something in their tummies kept them from eating all the treats everyone generously gave.

We participated in the KRSL Royals bus trip this past weekend. It was awesome!!! I would have to agree it was one of the better bus trips I've been on. My family and I have gone every year, since Mike McKenna has put it on and they keep getting better and better as the years go on. We had wonderful seats, stadium of course is a sight too see and can't forget about our ROYALS, they played exceptionally well and won the game. We've only lost one game when we take these bus trips, so maybe we bring them good luck. Anyway, I want to say special thanks to Mike for working so hard and making our trip such a enjoyable time and making sure everything ran smoothly and on schedule. I hope the trip can continue on through the years; because it's worth it. Thanks KRSL!!!!! Looking forward to doing it again next year.

On Friday my husband won tickets to Hank Williams Jr. We went Saturday evening and had an amazing time. The seats were terrific, Hank was perfection, all in all it was the best concert I have been to in a long time. What an amazing radio station, morning show, and town we are blessed to live in. Thanks KRSL!!!!

I've returned to Russell and have found your site an avenue to keep on top of news. I'm accustomed to finding local, county, state, and federal news events via the web. Your site was a pleasant surprise and quite thorough.

Really like the new sight. Live in Phoenix and look at the sight each day to check on hometown news. Thanks Dennis Baxter
Since we don't subscribe to the local paper we appreciate all of your local news announcements and might even suggest an expanded format. We especially appreciate the timely and prompt funeral announcements--a service badly needed in this area. Thanks for keeping us informed! We appreciate your service to our area. Terry Crenshaw
LOVE the new look and LOVE LOVE AM 990!!!! Brandon M. Dinkel
I like the new look. but your banner is missing something. A picture of the staff would fill that empty spot nicely. Rose Pracht

Thank you for broadcasting the Russell High School football and basketball games live on the computer. We really enjoyed listening to Mike and Mike.
This is the only way we as grandparents could listen to our grandchildren games as we live in southwest Kansas and were unable to attend any. When we travel to Russell we always tune into 95.9FM when we get into range of your broadcast.

Love being able to check up on things happening back in Russell.
When we are heading back to The Heartland we start trying to pick up AM990 when we hit Wichita.
And love being able to listen to the KRSL Polka Party!
With most local small town radio stations going commercial, and automated it's nice to know KRSL is still a real home town radio station.
Thanks for all you do for the community.

I grew up in Russell and my family goes back many years in Russell history. The KRSL web site is my only source of Russell news. I check on Russell news daily...without your web site there would be a void in my life. The idea of listening to your station online way out here in Henderson, NV is very appealling.

We love your Radio station but can not pick it up very good in Hays.

KRSL Reply: Are you listening to Classic Hits 95.9 or Russell’s Classic Country AM 990? Either way, we are looking at possibly streaming in the near future, then you could listen on your computer, maybe even your cell phone, keep an eye on our website, krsl.com for updates.

You don't know how much I appreciate your Classic Country station. I listened to KFRM out of Wichita for years, but Johnny Western moved to Arizona and then they changed to music I do not like.
Your station signal does not come in as strong as I would like to have it, but I will continue to tune into your station.
So sorry for the tragedy in Russell with the loss of the two young men. My prayers are with the family and the community.
Sincerely,

Thank you for putting the classic country music on. I would much rather work to the music than have a TV on. I suggested this to you some time ago, and I am so glad you did it. Hope you have tons of listeners for it.

Just to let you know. The more I listen to 990 AM, The more I like it. You did a very good job on this one ! It's not the same O - same O new music. I'v even changed the station on all 5 pieces of equipment I run, except for during the poka show, then I switch. ( you can't please all, all the time ) I even changed my personal truck to 990 AM.
As an all day long radio listener I can't even begin to tell you enough of THANKS !!

I like the new country music you were playing today, we have always liked the morning show but haven't cared to much for classic rock. We kept the radio turned up all day and I will tell some friends about the new programing.
Love it

Do you ever play a country music segment like you do the polkas? Thanks
Kenneth & Beverly
KRSL Reply:
Not at this time, however, that might be a good idea for a new program on the am station.
Also, we are considering airing different programming on KRSL AM 990 and if we go with a music format it would likely be Classic Country.
Thanks for your comment and thanks for listening to KRSL Russell Radio!

Hi...this is Kim Wann. I just wanted to let you know that your website is awesome!! I spent 20 minutes just now looking for the results of Regional wrestling (my youngest son, Kale, wrestled from age 4 thru his Junior year, I LOVE wrestling) I looked at a lot of sites and NOBODY had the results posted. Then I thought of looking at your site and.....there they were! Thank you! My two older sons live in Topeka and Dallas and they tell me they look at your site almost daily to see whats going on at home. Keep up the good work!

I really enjoy listening to Russell High basketball games on KRSL. Mike and Tony are a great team and really complement each other well. Why is Tony only on every other game or so? I love listening to Mike, but the both of them together really makes for an awesome broadcast! Keep up the good work guys!

Dear Mr. Calvery:
May I take this opportunity to let you know of my experience with KRSL Radio.
I spent a week in Nebraska for Thanksgiving. It was a pleasure to run into and 'ol friend...990 KRSL AM.
I am from McCook and many years ago found 990AM on my radio. The signal is very listenable although the volume needs to be turned up on my radio. I first listened to KRSL in the mid 70's when if memory serves me correctly Fred Thompson owned the station. ( good signal McCook and south and east!)
I know at that time it was 250 watts. They are very few 250 watt stations on the air. Canadian Clear!
I enjoyed the music format. I realize it is a music service. It sounds very local blending in with local information.
As always..Noon time was Polka Time which brought back memories!
Thanks again for the enjoyment. KRSL is a very good small market station.

I am a Victoria fan and just wanted to say Thank You, Thank You, Thank You for the wonderful coverage of the regional playoff and sub-state game at Moscow. I am handicapped and was unable to attend, however, your coverage was as good as being there. Your announcers had me sitting on the edge of my chair during most of the game.
Victoria is very appreciative of your coverage of our sports, school and community.
Thank you again! I'll be with you at the state game.

It is trully great to be able each day to keep in touch with the news and other things that happen in Russell. Thanks for going that extra step to provide this for us. Russell was a great place to raise your kids, a great place to grow up in. It's a shame that some of the future planners of Russell didn't let the town grow and prosper.
Thanks KRSL for a great job.

Hi.
I just checked your website & it looks FANtastik!
I like the new-look design & restructured navigation. It's very easy to read & has great links.
We're planning for our 30th class reunion & I've included the KRSL website on the webpage. Hopefully others will enjoy it as much as I do.
Keep up the good work!
