Lenhardt (Leonard) Homeier

Lenhardt (Leonard) Homeier, age 87, died on Sunday, Feb. 19 in Great Bend.

He was born on May 1, 1924 in Ellsworth County and was a lifetime resident of the Dorrance/Wilson area.  Leonard was a farmer, dairyman and carpenter.

He is survived by six daughters, Rita Habbart, Mary Lee Bohnen and husband Sonny, Donna Fay Major and husband Ron, all of Dorrance, Barb Bowman and husband Jim of Russell, Alice Mae Prester and husband Terry of Lyons and Betty Jo Lloyd and husband Tom of Parker, Colorado; two sons, Will Homeier and wife Sherry of Russell and Ralph Homeier and wife Deb of Dorrance; 22 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren.

Leonard was preceded in death by his wife Alice and two sons, Robert and Steve.

Funeral services for Leonard Homeier will be held on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 10am at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wilson.  Burial will follow at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in Wilson with military honors by the Wilson American Legion, Russell VFW, Ft. Riley Honor Guard and Salina Harley Riders.

Visitation is from 8am to 7pm on Wednesday at Foster Mortuary in Wilson followed by a parish vigil at 8:15pm at the church.

Memorials may be made to the St. Wenceslaus Cemetery Fund or St. Joseph's Cemetery Fund.
