Kansas City Man Injured in Two-Semi Crash Near Dorrance

CrashA Kansas City man was injured in a two-semi crash early Thursday morning on Interstate 70 near Dorrance.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, at 2:10 AM Thursday, a 2017 Freightliner semi driven by 44-year-old Shervis Smith of Kansas City, Kansas was eastbound on I-70 just east of the Dorrance exit at mile marker 200.5.

The semi left the roadway and rear-ended a 2012 International semi occupied by 38-year-old Eric Brown of Timberlake, North Carolina. Brown's semi was legally parked on the shoulder.

The Freightliner semi came to rest on its side in the median.

Smith was transported to Russell Regional Hospital. He was buckled up at the time of the crash.

Brown was in the sleeper berth of his semi and not injured.
