2019 Storefront, Signage Grants Awarded

Russell County Economic Development and CVBRussell County Economic Development and Convention and Visitors Bureau has announced the sixth year of storefront and signage grant awards.

The storefront and signage grants are funded through the half-cent sales tax for economic development and capital improvements.

The intent of the program is to create and enhance the physical design of businesses in Russell County.

The program funds seven applications at $2,000 for $4,000 worth of improvement to a storefront or signage.

Applications are reviewed and selected by an independent committee of business developers in the region.

For the 2019 round of funding, 15 applications were received. A total of seven projects could be funded with the funds available.

Below is a list of the funded applications:

  • Iron Bird, LLC – LaSada Lodge, rural Russell
  • Russell Pump and Oil Field, Russell
  • Brant's Market, Lucas
  • The Mecca Plaza, Russell
  • Home Oil Service and Convenience Store, Lucas
  • Wheat Street Floral, Russell
  • Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, Russell
