Russell Home Destroyed in Fire

House Fire 7-27-19 1City of Russell, Russell Grant Township and Gorham Firefighters responded to a house fire Saturday afternoon in Russell.

Firefighters were dispatched to the fire at around 3:30 PM Saturday in the 400 block of West 7th Street at the intersection of 7th and Brooks.

The home was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

The Russell Police Department, the Russell County Sheriff's Office, Russell County EMS, the City of Russell Electric Department, the City of Russell Water Department, the Kansas Gas Service and Rotary Rescue also responded.

The fire was extinguished by around 6 PM.

The home was destroyed and is a total loss. A garage and a couple pickup trucks in the driveway were also damaged.

The residents were home when the fire started. They got out safely according to City of Russell Assistant Fire Chief Steve Knopp. There were no injuries.

The State Fire Marshal was contacted. The cause of the fire has been ruled undetermined according to City of Russell Fire Chief Dylan Riedel and remains under investigation.
