Icy Conditions to Blame for Two Injury Accidents on Sunday

CrashIcy conditions were to blame for two injury accidents on Interstate 70 in Russell County on Sunday.

According to dispatch logs and the Russell County Sheriff's Office, at 11:32 AM Sunday, a male motorist called Russell Dispatch to report a rollover accident at mile marker 189 on westbound I-70.

Russell County EMS transported the driver, 22-year-old Kyle Truschel of North Carolina, to Russell Regional Hospital.

He was buckled up at the time of the rollover.

The vehicle was a 2002 Toyota Tacoma pickup.

At 11:48 AM Sunday, Russell Dispatch received a 911 report of a black passenger car that struck the guard rail near mile marker 188 on westbound I-70.

Russell County EMS transported the driver, 18-year-old Breanna Jasmine Hamilton of Herington, Kansas, to Russell Regional Hospital.

A passenger in the 2017 Toyota Yaris, 31-year-old Natasha Stevens of Clay Center, Kansas, was not injured.

It's unknown if they were buckled up.

There were a couple other wrecks on I-70 in Russell County at about the same time, but no injuries were reported in those.
