Recent Rain Helps Drought Conditions in Russell Area

Drought Report 6-25-20Recent rain has helped ease drought conditions in central Kansas including Russell County.

According to the latest US Drought Monitor report, most of Russell County has normal conditions except the southwest corner of the county, which is abnormally dry. Barton, Ellis and most of Rush Counties are reporting abnormally dry conditions too.

Further west and south, drought conditions remain.

Extreme drought conditions are being reported in southwest Kansas in areas like Grant, Greeley, Hamilton, Kearny, Morton, Stanton and Stevens Counties. Severe drought conditions reach as far north and east as Finney and Lane Counties with moderate drought conditions remaining in Ness and southern Trego Counties.

Rain and thunderstorm chances remain in the forecast for the Russell area through the weekend.
