Cedar Bluff Water Pipeline, Other Topics Discussed at Tuesday City Council Meeting

City CouncilThe Russell City Council received an update at its meeting Tuesday about the ongoing study of the feasibility of building a water pipeline to Russell.

Councilman, and Cedar Bluff Water Pipeline Committee Chair, Chuck Bean says his committee has now met twice and things are moving smoothly, but he wants the public to understand one thing.

"A lot of people think it's an overnight thing - everybody says 'when are you guys going to start that pipeline?' - well, I would hope that everyone understands it's not an overnight thing," Bean said. "There's months and months and months of legal prep work that has to go into a project like that to start with."

A further update will be given the next time the Council meets.

Also addressed at Tuesday's meeting was the approval of a $50,000 chemical purchase for the water treatment plant, the approval of Myers Furniture to re-carpet the Deines Cultural Center, the appointment of an interim city manager (see other news story), and current City Manager Ralph Wise's final public meeting comments. A recognition was also held toward the beginning of the meeting to honor Craig Sanford of the Electric Department on his retirement after serving the city for 28 years.
