Russell Co. Traffic Stop Ends With Prison Sentence for Woman

A traffic stop on February 28 in Russell County has landed a woman from Mexico in federal prison.
28-year-old Monica Carrillo of Nogales, Mexico was given a 46 month sentence according to US Attorney Barry Grissom, after she pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine. A search of Carrillo's car produced 5.45 kilograms - more than 12 pounds - of cocaine.
She told investigators she was promised $1,000 to transport the drugs from California to Chicago.
