Academic Success Continues at RHS

Russell Champion MascottThe school year has now been underway for only about a month, but academic excellence is already being exhibited at Russell High School according to school officials.

RHS Principal Larry Bernard says his school has once again met AYP Compliance.

"We are one of the few high schools in the state of Kansas that can actually say we have met that requirement every year since it was instituted," Bernard said. "We're measured in reading, math, attendance and graduation rates - that's how high schools are evaluated in that system."

Bernard also went on to say that the most recent RHS assessment scores met the Standard of Excellence level in reading, math and social studies and that the school's National Honor Society held an induction ceremony Monday night to induct 10 new members.

Bernard said continued academic success combined with a slightly higher enrollment than last year should make this school year great.
