UPDATE: USD 407 BOE Gives Money to Music Department, MINUTES NOW INCLUDED

USD 407 BOEThe USD 407 Board of Education met Monday evening for its October regular meeting.

Several items were discussed in what turned out to be a rather long session. Two of which were presentations from Russell High School and Ruppenthal Middle School Vocal Music Instructor Christina Wilcox about an upcoming field trip for her high school students and fundraising efforts for this year's school musical and play productions. Superintendent Dave Couch says the Board wants to help Wilcox get the ball rolling.

"The Board decided that they would give $10,000 to support the musical and the play in the spring, to give Christina (Wilcox) time to get her fundraising and different ideas off the ground," Couch said. "The Board showing their support of the music department, I think, is really great."

Other items included an update on the new meal requirements for school lunches, word that the district's enrollment is actually slightly up, and the passage of a new capital outlay resolution.

Several executive sessions were also held for a total time of around an hour and a half with no action being taken.
