SHPTV to Air Kansas House, Senate Debates

Kansas CandidatesAs part of its ongoing Kansas Candidates program, Smoky Hills Public Television will air local debates for several districts in Kansas.

The debates will air every Wednesday in October at 7 PM on Smoky Hills Public Television. The programs will then re-air on Sundays at 5 PM.

Kansas Candidates is a Smoky Hills Public Television program that provides viewers the opportunity to become familiar with the state's candidates' stances on important issues related to the upcoming election. Chapman Rackaway, Associate Professor of Political Science from Fort Hays State University, moderates each debate.

Debate Schedule:

  • Wednesday, October 10, 7 PM: House District 71: Diana Dierks vs. Alan Jilka
  • Wednesday, October 17, 7 PM: House District 112: John Edmonds vs. Steve Muehleisen
  • Wednesday, October 24, 7 PM: Senate District 40 - LIVE EVENT: Ralph Ostmeyer vs. Allen Schmidt
  • Wednesday, October 24, 8 PM (NOTE TIME CHANGE): House District 110: Travis Couture-Lovelady vs. Philip Martin

You can catch all of the debates online at www.smokyhillstv.org, including a debate from October 3 for the Kansas House District 111 between Eber Phelps and Sue Boldra. All debates will air as part of a Kansas Candidates marathon on the Sunday before election day - Sunday, November 4 beginning at 1 PM.
