RHS Seniors, FFA Members Selected to Compete Nationally

FFA Convention 2012Four Russell High School seniors have been selected to compete for national recognition in a career development event at the 85th National FFA Convention to be held October 24 through the 27.

Team members Payton Stoppel, Jordan Moubry, Lane Mai and Clayton Moubry will travel to Indianapolis, Indiana to vie for national honors in the area of Livestock Evaluation.

Participants evaluate classes of breeding and market beef, sheep, swine and goats according to the latest USDA market grades and cutability. They then provide oral reasons for their selections. Team members also collaborate on various team activities.

This group from RHS has been judging livestock together as a team in 4-H and FFA for the past seven years. The team qualified for the national contest by placing first in the Kansas FFA Livestock Evaluation competition in May of this year.

Their FFA advisor is Jed Strnad.
