Hays Asking for Cedar Bluff Water Release

Cedar Bluff State ParkThe City of Hays is planning to ask for a water release from Cedar Bluff Reservoir.

That announcement was made during Thursday's Hays City Commission meeting.

According to Hays Assistant City Manager Paul Briseno, a letter requesting the release of water from the artificial recharge pool at Cedar Bluff will be sent to the state of Kansas Water Office on Monday, Dec. 17.

Briseno says Hays does not own any acre feet of water like Russell, but can ask the state for a release from the state's allotment.

Hays plans to ask for a release of around 1300 acre feet of water to recharge their Smoky Hill Well Field.
