Teen Killed, Four Others Injured in Crash Near Walker

Fatal CrashA Dighton girl was killed and four others injured in a rollover involving a deer on Interstate 70 near Walker on Friday night.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2004 GMC Yukon was eastbound. The driver swerved to miss a deer, but still hit it. The SUV went off the shoulder. The driver over corrected, rolled and the vehicle landed on its top hitting a fence.

The driver, 28-year-old Christopher Johnson of Dighton, was hurt along with three teens. Those three were identified as 15-year-old Rebecca Harmison of Garden City, 15-year-old Ieasha Gray of Dighton and 17-year-old Wyatt Marsteller of Dighton.

All were transported to the hospital in Hays.

A fourth teen was killed - 16-year-old Hope James of Dighton.

Troopers say all were buckled up.

The crash happened Friday at 10:35 PM on the east side of the Walker Bridge in eastern Ellis County.
