Russell County 911 Dispatch received more than 10,000 calls in 2012, and according to Russell Interim Police Chief Dale Weimaster, a somewhat large number of those calls related to his department and more specifically, theft and burglary investigations.
Weimaster says the PD took more than 5,000 911 calls and of those, 459 of them were criminal investigation reports.
"Of those reports, 34 percent were thefts," Weimaster said. "That may be something that people need to think about. Make it less likely to have a theft by locking your vehicles up - there's been a lot of car burglaries - lock your houses up. (Don't allow) such easy access into vehicles or residences."Read More Local News
