Gorham Fire Department Gets New Truck

At its Monday meeting, the Russell County Commission accepted a bid for a new fire truck purchase for the Gorham Fire Department and also received annual and monthly reports from several county departments.
Commission Chairman Alan Kuntzsch says the purchase for the Gorham FD was approved after the Commissioners had previously looked at just repairing existing equipment, but in doing so, they found that purchasing a new truck would actually be a better financial decision for the future.
"We put out bids a while back for a brand new brush truck - holds 500 gallons of water - and that bid was awarded to Hays Fire out of Hays, Kansas. The low bid was $97,187 from Hays Fire," Kuntzsch said.
Also Monday, Commissioners received updates and reports from Larry Height of the Road and Bridge Department, Emergency Management Director Keith Haberer, Stephanie Cross of the Russell County Community Partnership and Larry Purdy of the County's Noxious Weed Division.
Russell County EMS Director Jennifer Cisneros also addressed the Commission Monday and was given a two year contract to continue at her post.
