Calvery gave the Annual President's Report and followed that with the presentation of four annual Chamber awards: the Community Service Award won this year by the Russell Recreation Commission, the Business of the Year won by LaSada Sporting Clays and Hunting Service, the Non-Profit Organization of the Year awarded to the Trinity United Methodist Church Thrift Store, and the Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by Jeannine Byers-Long, went to Wayne and Odetta Marietta. Also, Troy Waymaster, Andrea Krauss and Don Varner were given service awards for their time spent as Chamber Board members.
Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Kansas Sampler Foundation, Marci Penner (pictured above at the podium), was the evenings keynote speaker. Penner told stories of her travels to all 600-plus incorporated Kansas towns and gave a few tips on how to become active in our communities and how to stay that way.
Meridy's Restaurant of Russell catered a full course meal for the event as well.
