Sculptures Return Home

Millers Park Sculptures 1After 40 years, the Miller's Park Sculptures of Lucas have returned home.

The rock sculptures, built in the early 1900's by Roy and Clara Miller of Lucas, were sold and moved to Hays after each of their deaths. Over the last four decades, the sculptures have set unattended and some have deteriorated greatly.

Russell County Economic Development and Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Janae Talbott says thanks to local fundraising and Lucas' love of the arts, the sculptures are back in their rightful place and restoration has already begun.

"They're in the process of working with Kohler Foundation, which is the same group that also came back and updated the Garden of Eden," Talbott said. "We're very excited for them to get that back and keep adding to what they already have."

When restoration is complete, the artwork will be placed near the Garden of Eden.
