Russell City Council Approves Snow Removal Policy

Quinday City CouncilAt its regular monthly meeting Tuesday afternoon, the Russell City Council approved a formal snow removal policy that specifically ranks street clearing priorities for city crews following a snow or ice event.

Russell City Manager Jon Quinday says the policy will help alleviate confusion.

"This policy will set the standard for snow clearing operations, which is to make the roads passable, and also defines that the city does not have a bare pavement policy," Quinday said. "Depending on the accumulation amount - how fast the snow accumulates, the moisture content of the snow, the wind speed - even though we have this policy in place, not every time may we be able to reach every one of these priorities listed."

Also at Tuesday's meeting, the Council received updates on the progress of well rehabilitation currently taking place with some of the city's water wells as well as where the Electric Department is with its various system upgrades. Both items are moving forward as planned.

Two executive sessions where held as well, with no action resulting from either.
