A man was injured and taken to Russell Regional Hospital Friday afternoon after he lost control of his vehicle on eastbound Interstate 70 near Dorrance due to icy conditions and slid into a KDOT snow plow truck.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 25-year-old Matthew Robert Wayne Cagle of Joplin, Missouri applied the brakes and lost control of his 2005 Suzuki Verona due to vehicles ahead of him adjusting speeds to avoid the snow plows that were working on the right shoulder of the highway. Cagle then skidded sideways and the driver's side of his vehicle struck the back of the snow plow truck driven by 43-year-old Troy Nathan Tammen of Russell.
The crash happened Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock at eastbound I-70 mile marker 197 in Russell County. Extent of Cagle's injuries is unknown.
The KHP says both drivers were wearing safety restraints.Read More Local News
