Senator Bob Dole Statement on Death of Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ)

"Frank was a great American success story: He served with distinction in World War II, attended college under the GI bill, then founded an innovative and highly successful business. I will remember Frank especially for his principled stance during the 1990s wars against Bosnia and Kosova and his strong support during my chairmanship of the International Commission on Missing Persons. Following the loss last year of Senator Daniel Inouye (D-HI), Frank's death also marks the end of an era as he was the last World War II veteran serving in the Senate."
"Elizabeth and I extend our deepest condolences to Bonnie and Frank's family. They are in our thoughts and prayers."
United States Senator Frank R. Lautenberg, the last remaining World War II veteran serving in the Senate, passed away due to complications from viral pneumonia at 4:02 AM Monday at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell. He was 89 years old.Read More Local News
