Power Pole Testing to Start

City of Russell Electric Department crews and contract crews from Osmose Utilities Services will be working in the streets and alleys throughout Russell in the coming weeks conducting power pole testing.
Residents are asked to keep yards accessible during the day and outdoor animals restrained to allow crews to conduct their testing. "The testing procedure involves minor digging around the base of the poles and some drilling," said Duane Banks, Electric Utility Director.
Crews are completing testing from 7th and St. John Streets, then 6th Street to Van Houten and south to Iron Street this week, followed by St. John to Eves and east to Highway 281. Once this testing is complete, the crews will be focusing on the 34.5 kV lines east of the city feeding into the Russell Switching Station. Updates will be posted periodically to inform citizens what area the work crews will be in. The entire testing program can take 30 to 45 days depending on weather and accessibility.
Residents with questions about the testing or who have concerns about crews accessing their property, can call Duane Banks at 785-483-7112.Read More Local News
