Local 4-Hers Do Well at State Fair

Kansas State FairThe 100th annual Kansas State Fair has wrapped up and Midway District-Russell County 4-H was very successful.

Special honors went to Paxton Pospichal who won Grand Champion Senior Sheep Showmanship, Gage Nichols who won Reserve Champion Senior Sheep Showman, Braden Mai with Champion York Gilt (Breeding) and Reserve Supreme Overall, Lane Mai who won Reserve Champion York Gilt (Breeding), Jordan Moubry who took Reserve Champion Speckle Face Market Lamb, and Payton Stoppel who won Reserve Grand Champion Market Steer.

Cameron Kilian competed in the Horse Halter class placing 3rd and in Horse Showmanship placing 7th.

Midway District-Russell County 4-H members also competed in the State Photography Judging Contest and the State Family and Consumer Science Judging Contest at the 100th Anniversary of the Kansas State Fair.

Aundrea Haberer and RJ Haberer competed in the intermediate Photography Judging Contest consisting of photographs to judge, photographic problems and a written exam. Aundrea placed 45th in the state and RJ placed 103rd.

Katherine Krauss and Lori VonFeldt competed in the intermediate FACS Judging Contest consisting of six classes of life skills and knowledge. Krauss placed 3rd in the state and VonFeldt placed 176th.
