Grassroots Art Center Joins Smithsonian Magazine's Ninth Annual Museum Day Live

Museum Day LiveThe Grassroots Art Center in Lucas will open its doors free of charge on Saturday, September 28 as part of Smithsonian magazine's ninth annual Museum Day Live.

A nationwide event, Museum Day Live offers free admission to visitors presenting a Museum Day Live ticket at any participating museum or cultural institution.

Inclusive by design, the event represents Smithsonian's commitment to make learning and the spread of knowledge accessible to everyone, giving museums across all 50 states the opportunity to emulate the admission policy of the Smithsonian museums in Washington, D.C. Last year's event drew over 400,000 participants and this year's event expects record-high participation.

The Grassroots Art Center, located at 213 S. Main Street in Lucas, exhibits, educates, preserves and documents self-taught art environments in the Midwest. The September 24 through 28 temporary exhibit will be "A Peace of My Mind" photographs of John Noltner from Bloomington, Minnesota. This exhibit will be in conjunction with the Sunflower Visual Arts Festival also held from 9 AM to 4 PM on September 28 in Lucas. Noltner and Minneapolis, Minnesota musician Heatherlyn will present a program at 1 PM on September 28 at the art center on the above topic. All visitors are welcome to attend.

The Museum Day Live tickets are available to download at Smithsonian.com/museumday. Visitors who present the Museum Day Live ticket will gain free entrance for two at participating venues for one day only. One ticket is permitted per household, per email address.
