Russell County Administrator Lyon Resigns, Retains Appraiser Position

Russell County CourthouseIt was announced at Monday's Russell County Commissioners meeting that County Public Service Administrator Kenton Lyon has resigned from the position effective immediately.

Lyon, who also serves and will continue to serve as County Appraiser, took over as County Administrator about a year ago following the retirement of Lenny Tyson. For the past year, Lyon has been in charge of both positions.

Commissioner Steve Boxberger says an interim administrator has been appointed.

Road and bridge project updates were also presented to the Commissioners Monday. Boxberger said, along with two major ongoing bridge projects, county crews are beginning to make preparations for the coming winter.

Russell City Manager Jon Quinday briefly discussed a housing assessment with the Commissioners that would benefit both the county and the city of Russell.

Other presentations included updates from Janae Talbott of Russell County Economic Development and Convention and Visitors Bureau as well as County Health Nurse Paula Bitter.

Several executive sessions concerning non-elected personnel were also held.
