The announcement was made this week by White Communications, LLC owner Barbara White.
McKenna has been with the stations since 2008 and serves as the morning show host on Classic Hits 95.9 and Russell's Classic Country AM 990 along with play-by-play of Russell sports and a sales representative. He started his radio career at KRSL at the age of 16 and worked at the stations in high school and college from 1994 to 2000.
"Mike has done a wonderful job for our company," noted White. "Mike's history of excellence in local radio makes this a natural progression of his professional career and we're pleased that he has accepted this challenge. We want to continue the strong community involvement the radio stations are known for as well as move forward in growing our brands and expanding to meet the growth in technology and media."
McKenna stated that he is strongly committed to his community and looks forward to his new challenges. He added, "This is a great opportunity to grow in the profession I love. I pledge my very best efforts to serve the community I live and work in."
McKenna and his wife, Angie, are the parents of a two-year-old daughter, Bryleigh, and live in Russell.
KRSL/KRSL-FM is owned and operated by White Communications, LLC which is a family operation that was formed by the late Fred White and his wife, Barbara Boxberger White. Barbara is a Russell native and still maintains a family home in the community. Fred White, former play-by-play broadcaster for the Kansas City Royals, passed away in May following a brief battle with Melanoma.Read More Local News
