Fletcher Appointed County Administrator

Russell County CourthouseRussell County Sheriff John Fletcher has been appointed as the new County Public Service Administrator after the recent resignation of Kenton Lyon.

Fletcher signed a two year contract for the position and takes over after holding the post for the past couple months on an interim basis. He will continue to serve as Sheriff as well. Lyon will continue to serve as County Appraiser.

Russell County Commissioner Brad Zweifel speaks highly of Fletcher.

Other business discussed at Monday's Commissioners meeting included the signing of a contract with Jones Gillam Renz Architects for the design of the recently approved courthouse addition. Commissioners said construction on the new addition should begin sooner than later and they are looking at a completion date of about a year and a half from now.

It was also decided Monday that outgoing County GIS and Zoning Coordinator Gail Ogle will stay with the county on a part time basis for at least the next six months to help train the new coordinator. The new coordinator, Angela Schnee, was introduced at the meeting.
