California Woman Injured in Wreck on I-70

Kansas Highway Patrol BadgeA California woman was injured late Wednesday morning in a wreck on Interstate 70 near the rest area just east of Russell after a semi truck changed lanes and struck the vehicle she was riding in.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at 11:45 AM Wednesday at westbound I-70 mile marker 187.

The KHP report states a 2014 GMC four wheel drive vehicle, driven by 68-year-old John W. Brown of Rancho Cucamonga, California, was in the left lane and 2006 Freightliner semi truck, driven by 44-year-old Javier Carmona-Ceballos of Kissimmee, Florida, was in the right lane approaching the rest area entrance. The semi truck changed lanes and struck Brown's vehicle.

A passenger in the GMC vehicle, 64-year-old Sandra M. Brown of Rancho Cucamonga, California, was transported by ambulance to Russell Regional Hospital with injuries. It is unknown how serious her injuries are.

All those involved in the incident were buckled up.
