County Commissioners Discuss End of Year Business

Russell County CourthouseThe Russell County Commissioners met Monday in regular session to discuss a budget amendment and other end of year business as 2014 approaches.

Numerous projects and events around the county have taken place throughout this past calendar year, and Commissioner Alan Kuntzsch says every year about this time the Commissioners comb through each county department's budget and make sure everything is in line.

In mentioning economic development, Executive Director of Russell County Economic Development and CVB, Janae Talbott, addressed the Commissioners at the meeting as well. She updated them on several new and expanded Russell County businesses and encouraged the Commissioners and the public to check them out. Also Monday, the Commissioners approved an addition to the county zoning profile that will now include mineral rights.

Ongoing road and bridge projects were discussed. Kuntzsch said the bridge work south of Dorrance is now complete.

A proposed Neighborhood Revitalization Plan for Fairview Township and the City of Lucas was addressed as well. The Commissioners gave their approval and support, but the program will be administered by the township and not the county.

The Commissioners will hold a special, shorter meeting on Monday, December 30 to officially finish up with 2013 business.
