Simpson, Bickerdyke Elementary Teachers to Receive iPads, MINUTES NOW INCLUDED

USD 407 BOEAll Simpson and Bickerdyke Elementary School teachers will be receiving iPads in a few weeks thanks to the USD 407 Board of Education approving the purchase Monday evening.

Teachers at Russell High School and Ruppenthal Middle School received tablets of a different brand previously, and Superintendent Dave Couch says this process should help him, the Board, the administrators and the teachers make a decision on what type of tablet to give students eventually.

With the help of a Russell County Area Community Foundation grant, the cost to purchase the iPads will total just under $23,000.

Also at Monday's meeting, the Board reviewed a local audit report of the school district by Gudenkauf and Malone, Inc. No problems or inaccuracies were found.

The Board approved the 2014-2015 district calendar as well. Couch said next year's calendar is basically a mirror image of the current year's calendar and only has a few minor changes.

Also, Couch will be with the school district for at least another two years as Boardmembers approved a contract extension for the Superintendent at Monday's meeting.
