The Russell County Sheriff's Department has a new deputy on staff.

Nathan Keener graduated from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center south of Yoder on Friday, Feb. 10 and will join the Russell staff in the next few days.

Keener was born and raised in Russell.  He graduated from Russell High School and Fort Hays State University.

The Russell County Sheriff's Department now has nine officers on staff.
