A soils crew from KDOT will be performing a geotechnical study along US Highway 281 north of Russell over the next two weeks.

The study, which begins on Feb. 14, is intended to gather information that is necessary for the detailed design of the proposed improvement of Highway 281 from Russell to K-18 Highway.

The investigations will require sections of the highway to be restricted to one lane traffic for approximately ½-mile sections during daylight hours.

The modernization project will be funded by the state's T-WORKS program and is tentatively scheduled to begin in 2018.
