RMS Science Olympiad Team Wins Regional

Science Olympiad LogoThe science olympiad team from Ruppenthal Middle School in Russell won their regional tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 14.

It is the sixth-straight year RMS has won the regional crown.

Hill City placed second and Pratt Skyline third.  10 schools competed in the regional.

Five RMS students took first in the regional.  Kyle Rourke and Shiv Gupta won "Compute This."  Kelsey Farmer and Angeleah Steirlen took "Dynamic Planet."  Sammy Ptacek and Shiv Gupta won "Road Scholar."

Seth Hilger and Shiv Gupta placed second in "Disease Detective."  Travis Ochs and Sammy Ptacek were second in "Mission Impossible."  Caleb Baldwin and Seth Hilger finished second in "Rocks and Minerals."  Kelsey Farmer and Angeleah Steirlen were second in "Reach for the Stars."

Travis Ochs and Jeff Blundon finished third in "Awesome Aquifer."  Angeleah Steirlen and Jeff Blundon placed third in "Write it do it."  Jeff Blundon and Travis Ochs were third in "Water Quality."

Four other RMS students competed in the regional and did not place - Isaac Boltin, Zac Hendrich, Dylan Peeler and Purgut Hayer.
