Former Kansas State Quarterback and Heisman Trophy finalist Collin Klein spoke to a large crowd Tuesday night in Sylvan Grove as part of a program presented by the Sylvan-Lucas Unified High School Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Klein talked about growing up in Colorado and coming to K-State to play football as it was really the only quality school that offered him a scholarship. He worked his way up the depth chart, even playing special teams early on, but never lost hope he could be the starting quarterback.
Klein explained to the audience of kids and adults of all ages that his faith in God helped him understand the process and if you're struggling, you have to surrender it all to God and let Him help you through your problems.
He said while attending K-State he was very involved in Bible studies with other athletes and actually led one of his teammates, Center BJ Finney, to Christ.
Klein spoke for about 20 minutes and then answered questions for another 20 minutes. He and wife Shalin signed autographs and took pictures with folks following the presentation.
Below is a brief interview KRSL News conducted with Klein Tuesday night. Also, several pictures from the presentation taken by David Elliott are below as well.
