Courthouse Addition Floor Plans Studied by County Commissioners

Russell County CourthouseThe Russell County Commissioners studied and discussed several floor plan options for the new and recently approved Russell County Courthouse expansion project at their regular meeting Monday.

The addition will be built directly north of the existing courthouse and will house the offices, courtrooms and other areas that are currently on the second and third floors of the courthouse.

Commissioner Steve Boxberger says a lot of planning goes into a project of this magnitude.

Giving time to review the plan options with the various department heads, the Commissioners announced Monday they will hold a special work study session on Thursday, February 13 to further discuss and maybe even come to a decision about which plan to choose.

Also at Monday's meeting, the Commissioners awarded mandatory bridge inspection bids, and as Commissioner Boxberger says, bids to purchase two new vehicles were awarded as well.

Reports were also heard from Emergency Manager Keith Haberer, Appraiser Kenton Lyon, Larry Purdy of the Noxious Weed Department and EMS Director Jennifer Cisneros.
