Three Separate Drug Related Incidents in Russell on Friday Send Five People to Jail

Drug ArrestFive people are in the Russell County Jail on drug charges following a busy night for local authorities on Friday, February 21.

According to a recent law enforcement report, officers from the Russell County Sheriff's Office and the Russell Police Department responded to three separate drug related incidents Friday night.

The first was reported at 7:11 PM say authorities. A resident in the 700 Block of West 17th Street called to report a vehicle that appeared suspicious. He advised a pickup pulled into the field north of 15th and Van Houten on the east side of the road and shut its lights off. Officers responded and found the truck.

Travis Dorris was placed under arrest on charges of possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Westin Schurz was placed under arrest on charges of simple possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Police say the second incident occurred an hour later at 8:11 PM when a 911 call was received from a woman at the Fossil Station Convenience Store advising that when her husband got out of the car, a man got in the car and asked her if she had any drugs. She told the subject to get out of her car, he did and went into the convenience store.

Officers responded and could not find the man inside the business, but did locate him, Jeremy Hollis of Fitchburg, Wisconsin, at the Fossil Creek Hotel where he was placed under arrest on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and disorderly conduct.

The last drug related arrests on Friday night in Russell occurred as the result of a search warrant. At 8:49 PM, Sheriff's and Police Officers served a search warrant at 109 East Barbara Street.

Nicole Krug and Jordan Hoop were placed under arrest and charged with conspiracy to distribute marijuana.
