Stone Post Chapter Announces Challenge Grant

Thrivent FinancialRev. Roger Dennis, President of the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Stone Post Chapter, has announced the organization's challenge grant to benefit the Russell County Area Community Foundation.

"We will match the first $1000 donated to the Foundation's Administrative Fund," said Pastor Dennis. "Providing good infrastructure is essential to sustaining and expanding an effective and healthy organization. For example, many hear about the more than one million dollars of grants and scholarships that have benefited Russell County through the Foundation. Many are not aware of the people and resources involved behind the scenes that make those awards possible. We initiated this challenge grant to not only bring awareness to the effort behind the scenes, but also wanted to reward that effort."

Rev. Dennis, a board member of the Russell County Area Community Foundation, also mentioned this effort can bring additional dollars to Russell County. "The money we raise will be eligible to be matched a second time. Through the GROW program of the Kansas Health Foundation, 50 percent of each dollar donated and our match will be matched again. Thus, the first $1000 raised will result in the Foundation receiving $3000."

Donations should be made payable to St. John Lutheran Church, note Thrivent Financial Stone Post Chapter Challenge, and sent in care of St. John Lutheran Church, 425 North Main Street, Russell, Kansas 67665.

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is the largest benefit society in the United States and has a 185 year history of making a difference in the lives of members and their families, faith communities, and their home communities. Thrivent Financial is a 503(c) organization and all donations are tax deductible.
