Russell, Rush County Bridge Torn Down

Russell County CourthouseA historic, but dilapidated limestone bridge that sits on the Russell and Rush County line has finally been torn down after a long negotiation process.

Russell County Road and Bridge Department Supervisor Larry Height told the Russell County Commissioners Monday at their regular meeting that the bridge has been demolished and Russell County crews will now start the process of replacing it with a new, more modern and safer bridge.

Also during Monday's meeting, the Commissioners heard budget updates from Community Corrections and the Kansas Child Advocacy Center. They also talked about setting rental fees for the 4-H grounds outbuildings as well as discussed county valuations. According to County Appraiser Kenton Lyon, county valuations are up approximately five percent.
