Two Men Injured on I-70 in Ellsworth County

CrashTwo men, one from Ellsworth and the other from Missouri, were injured Monday morning on Interstate 70 in Ellsworth County following a semi versus car crash.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says 70-year-old Carl Choitz of Ellsworth and 53-year-old Anthony Pratt of Chilhowee, Missouri were both taken to Ellsworth County Medical Center with unknown injuries.

According to the KHP, Choitz was driving west and traveling between 60 and 65 mph in a 2006 Mercury sedan when the westbound 1998 Volvo semi driven by Pratt hit the rear of the car. The sedan was pushed into the north ditch and the semi swerved into the median and overturned.

A passenger in the Mercury, 64-year-old Edith Schriner of Salina, was not injured.

Everyone involved was buckled up.

The crash happened at 9:46 AM Monday at I-70 mile marker 210 or about a half-mile east of 6th Road in Ellsworth County.
