Russell County Burn Ban Remains in Effect

Russell County CourthouseThe Russell County Commissioners remind folks the countywide burn ban for Russell County remains in effect until further notice.

The Commissioners discussed the ban Monday at their regular meeting. While some parts of the county have received moisture over the last couple weeks, the majority of the county remains in a very severe drought.

No open fires of any kind are allowed while the ban is in place. Only the use of covered barbeque grills is allowed.

The Wilson Lake area is included in the ban, meaning campers and folks at the lake cannot set campfires.

You will be fined if you are found to be in violation of the burn ban.

In other business Monday, the Commissioners continued to discuss the Courthouse addition.

Commissioner Steve Boxberger says they hope to go to bid with the project in July.

The Commissioners also discussed next fiscal year's budget and summer road and bridge projects.

They also gave the okay for an equipment transfer within the county that will allow the Lucas Fire Department to purchase a fire attack truck from the Natoma Fire Department.
