The Russell Post Office has turned 75 years old and Wilson Lake is 50 years old, and organizers at the Russell Historical Society have put together two special exhibits to celebrate the anniversaries.
The exhibits, "You've Got Mail" and "Making a Lake," are now open for viewing at the Fossil Station Museum located in downtown Russell at 331 North Kansas Street.
Russell Historical Society member Kay Homewood...
Homewood says many times those trail post offices were named after the last person to live in the home.
The other anniversary the society is celebrating, the 50th birthday of Wilson Lake, is one several folks will find interesting as well.
Homewood says she remembers when the government began discussing building the lake.
To add photos to the museum's collection, the Historical Society is currently requesting copies of pictures of memorable or funny moments you might have had at Wilson Lake.
For more information, stop by the Fossil Station Museum or call them at 785-483-3637.
The museum's summer hours are Monday through Saturday 11 to 5 and Sunday 1 to 5.Read More Local News
