Storm Winds Down Power Lines, Trees in Russell County

Severe WeatherA Sunday afternoon storm system that rolled through the KRSL listening area downed several power line poles, trees and signs around Russell County.

According to a recent law enforcement report, several calls were received reporting power lines down in the roadway between Beatty and Decker Roads on Highway 281.

Numerous reports of signs and branches in the roadway on 281 north of Russell were also received.

In the city of Russell, several reports of downed trees and branches were called in to dispatch, one of which involved a tree falling on a power line and pulling it down.

No major or long-lived power outages were reported.

Wind and lightning were the main threats involved with the storm system.

Rainfall amounts around the county ranged from a half inch to two inches.
