Burn Ban Lifted, Fireworks Ban Remains

Burn Ban LiftedThe Russell County Commissioners voted Monday to lift the burn ban in Russell County effective immediately.

However, the fireworks ban remains in place, meaning discharge of fireworks in any unincorporated part of the county is currently illegal.

Commissioner Brad Zweifel says the lifting of the burn ban only applies to rural areas of Russell County.

Even with the recent rains the area has received, Zweifel cautions folks to remain very careful when burning.

In other business Monday, the Commissioners discussed ongoing bridge projects, exploration of purchasing a used loader, the courthouse addition and next fiscal year's budget.
