USD 407 BOE Approves Budget, Raise for Teachers

Superintendent Dave Couch says with enrollment numbers holding steady over the last couple years, the budget will look mostly unchanged from previous years.
However, because of action taken by the Kansas Legislature, the district will receive slightly more funding from the Local Option Budget, but will actually lower its mill levy by about a quarter of a mill.
Also Monday, the Board began the process to replace Couch as he has announced his retirement effective at the end of this coming school year.
Couch says the Board will use the Kansas Association of School Boards to help conduct the search.
Teacher negotiations were also finalized and approved Monday evening. All teachers will receive a three percent raise this year.
