State Championship Saturday Scoreboard

Team Holding State Championship Trophy 11-30-19The 2019 Kansas high school football season came to a close on Saturday, November 30 with eight schools being crowned state champions.

Osborne captured its fourth state title in school history with a 34-26 victory over Axtell in the 8-Man Div. II game in Newton. The 8-Man Div. I title went to Canton-Galva, who won the wildest game of the day. The Eagles overcame a 36-0 deficit by scoring 66-straight points to beat St. Francis 66-36 for their first-ever championshp. Centralia held off Smith Center 18-14 for the 1A title. 2A went to Nemaha Central, who shut out Norton 19-0. Joel Applebee, a 1993 Russell High School graduate and Mill Valley head coach, guided his Jaguars to a 40-31 victory over Wichita Northwest in the 5A game for their third championship in five years.

1A: Centralia 18, Smith Center 14  (Centralia - Fourth State Title in School History)

8-Man Div. I: Canton-Galva 66, St. Francis 36 (Canton-Galva - Overcame 36-0 Deficit to Win First State Championship)

8-Man Div. II: Osborne 34, Axtell 26 (Osborne - Fourth State Title in School History)
