The Russell High School girls basketball team lost 59-46 to Southeast of Saline on Tuesday, January 14 at Amos Morris Gym in Russell.

The Lady Broncos started well and led 19-10 after the first quarter, but trailed 33-28 at halftime. The Lady Trojans extended their lead to 44-35 after three frames and pulled away in the final period.

Rylan Reeves led Russell with 13 points and 12 rebounds, her third double-double of the season. Ryleigh Wagner followed with 11 points and Aniya Stierlen scored 10 points.

Southeast of Saline's Karsyn Schlesener led all scorers with 27 points and Keely Orr followed with 11 points.

Russell was 10-of-13 from the free throw line, but turned the ball over 17 times.

The Lady Broncos fall to 1-7 overall and 1-4 in the NCAA.

The Russell boys also fell Tuesday night. Southeast of Saline won 67-35.

The Trojans led 12-5 after one stanza, 35-19 at the half and 55-27 after three quarters. Most of the fourth period was played with a running clock.

Jacob Sohm led Russell with nine points.

Eli Sawyers paced SES with 21 points and 10 boards. Camden Spano-Lund scored 17 points.

Russell committed 19 turnovers, while the Trojans only turned the ball over five times.

The Russell boys fall to 2-6 overall and 0-5 in league play.

The Russell girls and boys are off Friday and return to action on Monday, January 20 in the first round of the Sterling Invitational Tournament.

The Russell girls drew the seventh seed and will take on #2 seed Lyons on Monday at 5 PM at the Sterling High School gym.

The Russell boys are seeded seventh and open against second-seeded Lyons on Monday at 6 PM at the Sterling College gym.

Monday's Russell girls game will be broadcast on KRSL 95.9 FM and KRSL.com beginning with the pregame show around 4:50 PM. The Russell boys game will be on KRSL 98.1 FM, 990 AM and streamed on KRSL.com beginning around 5:50 PM.
