Russell Splits at SE-Saline

Girls: Russell 43, SE-Saline 33
Boys: SE-Saline 68, Russell 28
The Russell girls broke open a tight game with a big fourth quarter run and beat SE-Saline 43-33 on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at the SES gym.
The game featured five ties and 12 lead changes with neither team building a lead larger than four through three quarters. That changed in the fourth quarter, though.
The Lady Broncos trailed 30-28 after three quarters and 32-28 early in the fourth before going on a 15-1 run to finish the game.
Madison Beagley scored 14 points and Janna Schulte 11 to pace Russell.
The Lady Broncos are now 6-2 overall and second in the NCAA at 3-1.
SE-Saline controlled the boys game from start to finish.
The Trojans led 24-12 after one quarter, 50-17 at halftime, 64-24 after three quarters and won 68-28.
Eric Rourke scored 12 points to lead Russell. Austin Donovan followed with six. Brandon Bachar and Keltonn Morris each had five points.
The Broncos fall to 0-8 overall and 0-4 in league play.
Russell steps out of NCAA play on Friday when they host TMP-Marian. The girls game begins at 6pm with the boys to follow around 7:30pm. Both games will be broadcast on Classic Hits 95.9 and streamed here on www.krsl.com.
