RHS Splits First Round Games in Hoisington

The Russell girls put together their best all-around game to date as they rolled to a 60-26 win over Otis-Bison in the first round of the Hoisington Winter Jam on Monday, Jan. 14.
The Lady Broncos, who are the #1 seed and the defending tournament champ, led 16-7 after one quarter, 25-11 at halftime, 41-18 after three quarters and finished the game with a 19-point fourth quarter.
Russell set season-highs in 3-pointers made (6) and points scored (60). They also allowed a season-low 26 points.
Madison Beagley scored 18 points and Janna Schulte 12 to lead the Lady Broncos. Savannah Huff followed with nine points, Chantal Prester seven and Megan Boxberger six.
Russell is now 8-2 and has won four-straight games.
The RHS boys fell to 0-10 on the season after a 67-25 loss to top-seeded Victoria.
The Knights led 14-6 one quarter and 23-10 midway through the second before putting the game out of reach with a 21-0 run over the second and third quarters.
Brandon Bachar hit a pair of threes and scored nine points for Russell. Eric Rourke and Keltonn Morris each had five points.
