Russell Splits with Ellsworth

The Russell boys ended a 31-game losing streak in thrilling fashion with a 47-46 come-from-behind win over Ellsworth on Tuesday, Jan. 22 at Amos Morris Gym in Russell.
The Broncos trailed by 46-42 late in the fourth quarter before getting two made free throws from Austin Donovan and another from Keltonn Morris to pull within one. Russell went ahead for good on Brandon Bachar's putback with five seconds remaining.
The game featured 11 lead changes and neither team built a lead larger than five.
Eric Rourke scored 12 points and Morris 10 to lead Russell. Donovan followed with nine points and Bachar seven.
Ellsworth was 2-0 versus Russell this season. The Broncos improve to 1-12 overall and 1-4 in the NCAA.
The Russell girls had their six-game win streak end after a 46-36 loss to Ellsworth.
The Lady Broncos jumped out to a 17-7 lead after the first quarter, but went cold from the field after that. The Lady Bearcats tied the game at 24 at halftime and then took a 33-31 lead after three quarters. Ellsworth grabbed control with a 9-0 run to start the fourth quarter.
Madison Beagley scored 17 points to lead Russell. But the rest of her teammates combined for just 19 points.
The Lady Broncos fall to 10-3 overall, 3-2 in league play and are now 2-1 against Ellsworth this season.
